How to use this
Step 1 — Save each route as a file (do this once for each route):
- Open the route on RideWithGPS in your web browser.
- Look at the web address at the very top of the browser. It looks like this:
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/12345678 - Click at the end of that address, type .json right after the
number, and press Enter:
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/12345678.json - Your browser will show a page full of text (or download a file automatically). If it shows text, press Ctrl+S on Windows or Cmd+S on a Mac to save it. Save it somewhere easy to find, like your Desktop or Downloads folder.
Do those steps again for the second route, so you end up with two saved files.
Step 2 — Compare the two routes (at permcompare.pages.dev):
- Drag your first file onto the Route A box (or click the box and choose the file).
- Drag your second file onto the Route B box.
- Click the Compare button, and the list of differences will appear.
A few tips: The very first comparison can take a few seconds to start up — that is normal. You may need to be signed in to RideWithGPS to open a route. Put the older version of the route in box A and the newer version in box B, so the changes read in the right direction.
